Newborn tiger triplets in eastern China are being nursed by a dog after their mother rejected them. Officials at the Jinan Paomaling Wild Animal World in Shandong province are calling the cubs "One," "Two" and "Three." They have been nursed by a dog since they were rejected by their mother shortly after birth 10 days ago, said Paomaling manager Chen Yucai. The triplet's adoptive mother, a mixed breed farm dog named "Huani," is expected to nurse the tigers for about a month or until their appetites outpace her supply, Chen said. read more...

From lap dogs to pit bulls, none of the state’s pooches will escape the latest round of canine crackdowns. “You can’t allow people to be afraid all the time,” said Avril T. Toby, a 2-year-old golden retriever, saw his owner choking on a piece of fruit and began jumping up and down on the woman's chest. The dog's owner believes the dog was trying to perform the Heimlich maneuver and saved her life. Debbie Parkhurst, 45, of Calvert told the Cecil Whig she was eating an apple at her home Friday when a piece lodged in her throat. She attempted to perform the Heimlich maneuver on herself but it didn't work. After she began beating on her chest, she said Toby noticed and got involved. read more...

Remorseful Teenager Returns Dog Stolen from SF-SPCA

he rat terrier dog stolen from the San Francisco SPCA on Sunday, was returned unharmed Monday. A spokesperson for the shelter said around 8 a.m. Monday the animal was returned. "A teenager -- probably around 16 years old -- returned him to a volunteer dog walker," said Kiska Icard, the San Francisco SPCA's management director. "(The dog walker) said he was in tears and was very remorseful, that he said he really wanted a dog and that it wasn't the right thing (Tai) was taken, but that he took really good care of him." read more...
